Ozzy Wiesblatt C/RW 5’10 183 lbs (R) Calgary (CAN) 09/03/02 WHL

Skilled energy player with good vision (positional play) and good hockey IQ (decision making, ethics), skating is fluid with an explosive first step, shots are precise with a strong release (both wrister and slapper), his soft and agile hands will permit him to deke through defense with a solid puck possession on the center of the ice or along the boards, on the power play he will work the cycle or remain on the half wall to unleash his shot. Defensively Ozzy is very underrated with a skilled positional play. He’s not afraid to engage physically and will often go for the big hit, mostly on the forecheck. Has played the majority of his season last year at wing and this year at center. Would greatly help on the PK even though he hasn’t been used that way with Prince Albert.

Joueur d’habiletés et d’énergie avec bonne vision de jeu (positionnement) et bon QI hockey (prise de décisions, éthiques de travail), coup de patin fluide avec une excellente accélération, ses lancers sont précis et décochés rapidement, ses mains souples et agiles lui permettent de feinter à travers la défensive adverse au centre de la glace ou le long des bandes avec une forte possession de rondelle, sur l’avantage numérique il excelle à garder la rondelle en mouvement et repérer ses coéquipiers ou utiliser son lancer le long des bandes au demi-cercle. Défensivement Ozzy est sous-estimé en raison d’un fort jeu de positionnement. Il n’a pas peur d’y aller pour une solide mise en échec surtout sur l’échec-avant. A évolué la saison dernière majoritairement comme ailier et cette saison comme centre. Pourrait largement aider un club sur le désavantage numérique même s’il n’a pas été utilisé dans ces fonctions avec Prince Albert.

Faiblesses: vision de jeu bonne mais limitée. Un joueur complémentaire.
